Extension to Detached Bungalow on Priestfield Road, Edinburgh

This refurbishment and extension project was commissioned in 2004 by my wife Mandy Laurie as my first commission in my own practice. The large two storey extension added 50% to the floor area of the existing house on the south side of Edinburgh.

We were keen to create a family house with open plan rooms without changing the character of the 1930’s bungalow. The project had to be sympathetic to the existing house yet be contemporary in design.

The interior included a feature open family kitchen and lots of daylight was used to highlight and create warmth. Externally to the rear  large glazed sliding folding doors open onto an extensive and sunny garden patio.
