Extension to Villa in Duddingston Crescent, Edinburgh

This refurbishment and extension project was commissioned in 2009 by Carolyn Stenhouse. The large extension added 60% to the floor area of the existing stone built villa on the East side of Edinburgh.

Carolyn was keen to create a double height atria within the extension to provide a gallery for some of her artwork and paintings. The project also had to be sympathetic to the existing house yet be contemporary in design.

The interior included a feature open glazed staircase and bold colour was used to highlight and create warmth. External Zinc sheet cladding was used to the gable and rear where large glazed doors open onto an extensive garden patio.
